Caring for your Cashmere

Cashmere is a luxurious, delicate fabric but it’s also one of the longest-lasting fibres around. And with just a little extra special care, your soft, beautiful cashmere should keep you cosy for a lifetime.

Here at Esperance & Co, we recommend hand-washing your precious cashmere pieces.

Firstly, submerge your cashmere clothing in cool to lukewarm water, adding a small amount of mild liquid soap or shampoo.

Gently agitate the fabric with your hands, leaving the item to soak for up to 30 minutes. Then rinse well, under cool running water.

To dry your cashmere topper, jumper or cardigan, gently press the water out, before lying the item out flat to dry – don’t put that refined creation in the dryer and never use an iron!

Finally, when storing your cashmere clothing, make sure it’s folded neatly before putting it in a drawer or on a shelf, ready for it’s next fashionable outing.   A Natural Calico storage bag can provide added protection from moths and bugs.  It is important to wash your garments before storing as moths are attracted to any residue.
